Last update 1:30p.m. July 1, 2008 The Huzzah recieved a 2 1/2 inch rain on its head waters friday night in bixby mo. This should make floating perfect for the upcoming week of the fourth of july. This is our busy time in our summer season. Saturday trips are taking longer for folks cause of the river traffic. If wanting to avoid this traffic start before 9:30 or after 12:30. Or better yet get on the river on a Sunday-Friday trip. Hence, it is very less exspensive to go on these off days. This summer floating season outlook is great with all the recent rain. Call our 800 367 4516 number before comming down if river levels are in question.
Note: Use suntan lotion the daylight hours are very long now. Use a mask and snorkel for some outstanding adventure in the aquarium like Huzzah!!!! Thru the week float upstream departure to be put in is on the hour. Weekends is every halfhour departure. If start at the resort and float down our pickups are scheduled by every hour. Recommended trips in canoes and kayaks are from Harpers Slab to Huzzah Valley. Dry Creek that enters the Huzzah at the resort is running a steady flow of spring water. The length of floats are the 12, 6, 3 mile,or the campground float of 2 miles. Recent comments from our floaters are that the water is awesome. The Huzzah is gin clear and that the effort it takes to paddle down the river is a perfect mindless activity.
Floating Conditions
The water is clear. The upper six miles is currently flowing great with this last shot of rainfall. The lower six miles to Scotia people are reporting floating is good but their are a few log jams and over hanging limbs in this section also. Some family groups have been taking 4mans and 6man rafts on the upper 3 mile back to the resort. (that trip does require getting out on some of the shallow riffles. The rest of the rafts are going from Huzzah Valley to Scotia trip. The water temperature is changing and so will the amount of time it take people to float the different trips.
Fishing Conditions.
The live bait fisherman have been pounding the water so use reaction baits( topwaters, Flukes) ect. The spawn is over and the bass are in faster runs of water and especially around shady rocks and logs.
Enjoy the surroundings wildlife, bluffs, flowering trees, refreshing crisp air, solitude, that's what trip is really about memories and peace of mind.
